Shares of Symantec, which are based in Cupertino, Calif., have soared $1.46, or 9.3 percent, to an amount of $17.19 in the morning trading. Analysts have latched onto the theme of improving the trends of business, with many increasing their profit and revenue approximations for third quarter, during the years 2010 and 2011.

The new CEO Enrique Salem is credited for giving an improved focus to Symantec. Instead of expanding this company through the process of acquisitions, like his predecessor, he is now concentrating on the integration operations that are already owned and have improved sales.

Symantec has also made deals to bundle the antivirus software into a software pack which is provided by the computer makers when the consumers come to buy new computers.

Joel Fishbein Jr, the analyst of Lazard Capital Markets has said that the business is stabilizing is the billings of the quarter that were flat from first quarter instead of declining. The deals over an amount of $300,000 were up sequentially.

Businesses from the large companies have gained the traction while the shift of Symantec to focus on small and the medium sized businesses has started to bear fruit as Fishbein said in his research note.
