The In Charge Of Android`s Development, Is It Google Or The Developers
11th November 2009
Onlookers said that Google is the in charge of the Android development, despite of the pitching of the software as one community project. But the experts have said that this could be the only way in which Google can ensure that this software is actually released.
The process of Android development may reflect one reality in open source environment, because some of the groups forego the community in their effort to speed up the commercialization.
When Google has introduced Android for the first time, it had called it as a joint project by Open Handset Alliance, which is a group of the companies that support the OS. The OHA site has read that we have developed the Android together. But in reality, this software has been developed in house at Google, the partners have said.
Bill Maggs who is the head of developer, partner content and the services at Sony Ericsson has said that the Android is an open source innovation driven by the Google. Google at this point is largely and definitely driving the framework.
Motorola has also acknowledged that the Android is not developed as an open source. Christy Wyatt who is the vice president of the software applications and the ecosystems at Motorola, while speaking at the press event at a recent CTIA conference has said that they would love such a world where the development is close to open.
