The Preview Of SQL Server 2008 R2 Is Due This Month

Microsoft has said that it will be making a preview of the SQL Server 2008 R2 which will be available during this month which is feature-complete, and includes the integration tools of the new business intelligence and also the master data management features.
Also, Microsoft has said that it will be delivering two of the highly scalable editions of its SQL Server 2008 R2 which was formerly the code-named Kilimanjaro, during the first half of the year 2010 when it will be shipping the new version of its database server.
This announcement was made at annual Professional Association for the SQL Server Summit (PASS). This PASS group is one independent and a not for profit association.
Microsoft is also pushing the SQL Server 2008 R2 as one opening salvo in the strategy to turn its database to one information platform. The company has also said that the platform will be integrating structured as well as the unstructured data from a number of sources and will be including SharePoint Server too. Fausto Ibarra who is the director of the product management of SQL Server has said that the R2 release is one down payment onto the information platform.
This review will also be including the SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel 2010, which is an in-memory analytics tools and links Excel, SharePoint Server, and also the SQL Server.
