The SAP Earnings Are Rising As Revenue Continues To Slip
4th November 2009
The revenues of SAP fell down during the third quarter, but the earnings rose although neither of the figures was as high as the analysts had been hoping. The company said that it had expected a decline to continue in the software and also the software related service revenue.
The company has reported that the revenue totaled to an amount of $3.66 billion in the third quarter, which is 9 percent down from one year earlier figures.
Their net income went 12 percent high, to an amount of €435 million that yield earnings per share of $0.54 as on Sept. 30, which is the last day of that period when it was reported.
The analysts had been expecting the earnings per share to be $0.58 and the revenue of $3.84 billion. The software revenue observed the sharpest decline, slipping down 31 percent to an amount of €525 million, while the support revenue soared 14 percent to an amount of €1.33 billion. The increase in enterprise support charges of the company has been sore point with the customers in the last year.
SAP has said that in all the software and software related service revenue fell off 3 percent to an amount of €1.94 billion. At the constant rates of currency, this fall would have been 5 percent. Decline in revenue from the software and software related services will move on, and might be accelerated too, for the whole year. At constant rates, it is expecting such revenue as to decline between 6 and 8 percent, which is an increase from 4 to 6 percent as it was forecasted in July.
