The flaw is inside the SSL protocol, which is best known as a technology used for securing the browsing on the Web sites starting with HTTPS, and allows the attackers to intercept secure SSL communications between the computers using man in the middle attack.

Though this flaw can be only exploited under some certain circumstances, it can also be used to hack into the servers in the environments of shared hosting, mail servers, the databases, and many of the other secure applications as according to Chris Paget who is a security researcher and has studied this issue.

Paget who is the chief technology officer in a security consultancy called the H4rdw4re that it is one protocol level flaw and said that there is a lot of stuff which is going to get fixed on these ones like Web browsers, Web accelerators, mail servers, SQL Servers, Web servers, Web load balancers, ODBC drivers, and the peer-to-peer protocols.

Though any attacker would be firstly in a need to hack into the network of the victim in order to launch man in the middle attack, its results would be devastating then and especially if it is used in a target attack for gaining access to database or mail server as said by Paget.
