Windows XP: main obstacle to spreading Vista

The researchers of the company Forrester Research showed that the main obstacle to the widespread use of Windows Vista is not Apple with its Mac OS X, and, of course, not all kinds of Linux. Windows XP is the very system that threatens Vista.
Forrester Research has performed the study among 600 European and American companies, the staff of which is over 1000 people. It turned out that only 32% of them are going to upgrade to Vista by the end of the next year, the rest do not see any reason to switch to Vista and are completely satisfied with Windows XP. The study of the installed on computers systems also does not give specific expectations for improvement of the situation: if last year Windows XP was installed on 67% of computers, now its share reaches 84%.
Solid seniority of XP is not making this system worse, but gives it almost the status of the proven standard. Moreover, many companies are eagerly awaiting the appearance of the package of updates SP3, the release of which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008. Moreover, this will be the last large-scale renovation of XP. As can be seen, the efforts of Microsoft to push Vista forward in the corporate environment has not been a great success, so Forrester Research notes that they will not be surprised if support of XP will be extended and expanded. Let`s point out, that so far ending support of XP is planned for April 2009.
