Wolfram Research announces Mathematica 7

The company Wolfram Research announced a new version of Mathematica 7, a popular worldwide platform for complex mathematical calculations. The developers report that the proposed version introduces more than 500 new features and also announces support of 12 additional applied areas.
Specialists are offered high performance mechanisms of analysis and image processing, which is closely integrated with the rest of the platform and can be used by developers creating solutions on the basis of Mathematica.
Another significant innovation is a built-in support of parallel calculations. It is the first time that the system Mathematica (and the software Mathematica Player Pro 7) has buil-in mechanisms meant to allocate computing tasks among several processor cores.
Users will also be able to appreciate additional tools for building diagrams and visualization of information, tools of visualization of vector fields, complete support of splines (including NURBS), statistical analysis of models, support of geodetic and GIS data as well as several other improvements.
The new version of Mathematica 7 runs under 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS X, Linux x86 and Solaris UltraSPARC/x86.
