Yahoo released a beta version of Yahoo Messenger 9
9th November 2007
The first public beta release of the ninth version of Yahoo Messenger has come out. Among the features of this release there is an opportunity to send pictures and videos from the program to mailboxes. In addition, there is an accelerated transfer of files, as well as increasing their maximum allowable size. We can also point out the integration with the Flickr photoservice, which is owned by Yahoo. Photograph users can quickly share photos and save images into their accounts.
Design of the contact list has been completely changed. You can now view it in two modes: with big icons and in a compact form.
But the most notable innovation of this version is a built-in mediaplayer, which provides the ability to view maps, photographs and videos (including Yahoo Video and YouTube) directly into Yahoo Messenger window, without the need for a browser or additional applications. However, to use this feature Yahoo Messenger 9 must be installed both on the computer of the sender and the recepient.
New Yahoo Messenger runs under XP and Vista. The final release is expected early next year.
