It was expected that these panels would only last for 20 years, but it has been proved wrong, as they can last for around 30 years. According to the independent EU Energy Institute, it brings down the lifetime cost of the solar panels. This institute has said that the buying of panels is quite a good and beneficial investment and the banks should offer them on mortgages, just like the way they do with homes.

In a conference, the institute has said that these panels are really going to be cost-effective, as by 2020, half of the homes are going to use this technology, without being bothered by the subsidiary costs.

Solar panels are now being manufactured in ital, Germany and Spain, which has helped a lot in increasing the manufacturing density. This is another reason of their decrease in their costs. During last year, approximately 30% prices have been dropped because of increase supply of solar units and decreased demand, which has been resulted because of the recession.
