Dell begins selling computers with OS Ubuntu Linux 7.10

The company Dell starts selling computers with pre-installed operating system Ubuntu Linux 7.10.
The software platform Ubuntu Linux 7.10 was released in October of this year. The new OS includes the tools set Tracker, responsible for indexing and search of information, OpenOffice office package, graphic server Xorg, work environment Gnome 2.20, Mozilla Firefox browser with additional plugins, windows graphic manager Compiz, and other components.
According to DesktopLinux, the operating system Ubuntu Linux 7.10 will be available along with the desktop computer Inspiron 530N, as well as the laptop Inspiron 1420N. Dell Corporation will also initially provide the ability to play DVD disks with movies.
The laptop Inspiron 1420N is based on the processor Intel Core 2 Duo T5250. The amount of RAM in the base configuration consists 1 GB, the capacity of hard disk being 80 GB.
The computer can be equipped with a combined DVD/CD-RW drive or a multi-format DVD- recorder. The cost of the model Inspiron 1420N ranges from 600 dollars.
As for the desktop Inspiron 530N, it is based on the processor Intel Pentium E2140 (1.6 GHz). The computer comes with the graphics card nVidia GeForce 8300GS, combined optical drive or DVD- recorder, Gigabit Ethernet controllers, and Wi-Fi. The desktop Inspiron 530N can be bought at the price of $754.
