Electronic Arts: people do not but quality!

The executive director of Electronic Arts, John Riccitiello, in his talk with investors made quite an interesting statement. He said that the company published quite a lot of games this year that were estimated by critics very well. However, despite an excellent audience reaction, these products are being sold worse than they were supposed to.
It turns out that the quality of games does not affect their sales. EA released 17 projects in 2008, with their overall rating at Metacritic being over 80%. In 2007 there were only 7 games of this quality level.
However, this by no way means that all projects from Electronic Arts (like Mirror's Edge and Dead Space) are sentenced to death. Riccitiello believes that in the future on the basis of these projects the company will accumulate more money, because the series are familiar to users.
