Firefox 3.1 beta 2 available for download
21st December 2008
Firefox 3.1 beta 2 has come out. The principal innovation of the release is the Private Browsing mode, in which the browser does not store any data on the user's online activity. In this mode, the computer leaves no trace of surfing, except for downloaded files and bookmarks added by the user. The command Private Browsing, meant for activating this mode, has been added to the menu Tools.
Before the start of the safe session Firefox offers save and close all open windows and tabs. To disable the mode you should select Private Browsing again.
In addition to the safe mode, the second beta version of Firefox 3.1 introduces some other interesting innovations, among them being support of some HTML 5 elements, as well as properties of CSS 2.1 and 3, the new mode TraceMonkey JavaScript by default, new tools for rapid removal of history, advanced pages visualization.
The new version can be tested under Windows, Mac OS and Linix.
