Google Sites: new project from Google

Google is preparing a new online service called Google Sites designed for editing Web pages.
According to Your Search Advisor, referring to a presentation held by Google in Michigan, Google Sites will be based on the development of the JotSpot company. Remember that Google acquired JotSpot last fall. JotSpot specializes in developing software for creating and publishing Wiki- pages (“wikiwiki" - , Hawaiian, “very quickly"). Wiki technology allows editing content through the web interface, creating links to other articles (both existing and planned), and so on.
Google already offers users the sustem of Google Page Creator for editing Web pages. This service is a visual HTML editor, built on the basis of technology AJAX and combined with free hosting. The new service Google Sites, with its expanded functionality, is intended to replace the service Google Page Creator. Google Sites will enable web-masters, among other things, to create intranet portals and multi-users environment. Google Sites will also provide project management tools for developers.
The exact date releasing Google Sites is not yet specified. Presumably, the service will be launched next year and will join the set of online office applications Google Apps.
