Misguided Is What Intel Calls To The Suit Of FTC
28th December 2009
The Federal Trade Commission was hit back by Intel. The chip maker, Intel, has called the antitrust suit of the agency against it to be misguided and said that it is not based upon any of the existing laws. Dough Melamed, who is the senior Vice president of Intel and the general counsel, has said in one statement that the rush of the Federal Trade Commission for filing this case will be costing tens of millions of the dollars to the taxpayers, in order to litigate the issues, which were not being fully investigated by the FTC. He further said that it is quite normal practice that the antitrust enforcement agencies have to investigate all of the facts before they file any of the lawsuits. It has also been complained by Intel that the action of FTC has no basis in the law. It further said that the agency, in effect, has been making up its own rules as the time is passing by.
Intel said that this suit is explicitly not based on any of the existing laws but it a symbol of making up new rules in order to regulate the conduct of business. The suit against Intel was announced by FTC in which it claimed that the dominance of Intel in used to violate the competition in the market.
