Opera declares war to Microsoft

Opera Software has sent a complaint on Microsoft to the European Commission. The developers of the popular browser draw attention to the fact that Windows OS comes with the browser Internet Explorer, which limits the rights of users. Opera Software request to compel the Corporation to either delete the browser from Windows, or equip their OS by several browsers so that the users have the choice.
It should be recalled that in September the European Commission adopted a final decision on the Microsoft`s penalty for the corporation`s using monopoly and compiles Windows with their own player, hurting the rights of alternative software`s developers. Opera contends that Microsoft should be obliged to take measures or impose another penalty on them.
In addition, the complaint of Opera Software refers to the support of open web-standards. The browser developers say that the European Commission should compel the corporation to follow open web-standards adopted by web-communities. “Unilateral power of Microsoft over standards in some markets creates a de facto standard, which is harder to maintain, the support of which is more expensive, which can even put at risk the safety of users,” - says Opera Software, in its complaint.
