Oxite: content management platform from Microsoft
18th December 2008
The company Microsoft has released a preliminary version of its open source platform for content management called Oxite. This platform, according to Microsoft, can be used by developers to build and administer most complex web diaries and largest websites.
The platform Oxite contains many features, very important for modern social networks or sites with Web diaries. In particular, the platform includes ready-made search tools for links to published works, posts, anonymous and authorized comments. It offers moderation of comments, support of RSS-channels for every page of the site and web interface administration. Of course, the platform Oxite provides tools to quickly adding new pages and sub-pages.
At first, the platform is a competitor to many existing blog-systems, but Microsoft insists that the technology Oxite is meant primarily for developers, not users, willing to create a new Internet-diaries.
Oxite developers call the current version an «alpha release». So far, the site of MIX Online is the only known site based on and using Oxite.
