Portability Of Cloud Computing
1st December 2009
There had been many of the surprising moments for everyone at the Enterprise cloud summit during the current month. The first thing which was quite surprising was that many of the companies have already started to move towards this cloud and have stored hundreds of terabytes of their data over there. Second most important thing was that it is an expensive process to move you data and also is slow too to move your data from one place to the other one i.e. cloud.
This came by when the point came on the interoperability of cloud. There had been discussions related to the APIs, cloud brokers and then also about the latest and emerging standards. The panelists included in this summit were Chris Brown who is the vise president of enginerring at Opscode, Jason Hoffman who is the founder as well as the CTO of Joyent, Alistair Croll who is the analyst at Bitcurrent and also the panelists included John Willis who is a consultant at Zaboyo.
There had been talks related to the portability of the cloud computing. Portability refers to the movement of data as well as the apps from one environment of the cloud to the other one. There are many reasons that why these IT organizations will move towards the other cloud. To name a few, for instance, organizations might see better or new alternatives, can be dissatisfied with one cloud and would want to move to the other, or there can also be some changes made to the strategy of one cloud, which compels the organizations to shift towards the other cloud.
