QuickTime 7.3.1: updating the player from Apple
23rd December 2007
An update for the program QuickTime has come out, which fixes a number of bugs in the security system of the player. In particular, this version corrects an error in processing headers obtained from the protocol Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), which could launch an execution of malicious code. This error was discovered last month.
The second correction relates to the vulnerability, because of which opening of a specially created malicious QTL files could entail the emergency closure of the program and launch of the malicious code.
Finally, the last correction relates to the processing of Flash files. Due to the large number of errors handling of such files in the latest version is impossible, with the exception of some files that are safe for sure.
The update can be downloaded from the official site of Apple.
