Security Problems In The Source Codes
1st December 2009
The analysis of the source code is an important and essential part of the total security process for any application. It helps to look for any kind vulnerability or flaw which is present in the source code that can be used by the attackers to exploit the code. One decisive part of this analysis is to follow these flaws and to remediate all of the vulnerabilities which have been found in the source code.
The 360 server of Fortify is one such repository which stores all of the results as well as the activities related to remediation that are the consequences of any source code analysis. This server does not carry out the analysis itself but it takes the ones which are being analyzed with the other products of the Fortify suite. This thing can also be done by many of the organizations and they too can take benefit from the service oriented architecture of the product in order to combine it with the software for source code analysis made by any of the third party.
A new project is considered to be an opening point for the server 360, as one or more of the applications will be assessed with the help of this. As the project has been created, the staff related with the compliance and security makes use of this project area to see the issues involved with the source code. Reviewers spot the issues to be exemptions, which can be positive, exploitable, false or any one from many of the choices being possible.
