SP3 for Windows XP: available for free download

The first release-candidate for the third service-pack of Windows XP now is available for free download.
Until recently, SP3 for Windows XP has been available for selected testers invited by Microsoft. As reported by PC World, with the reference to statements by the representatives of the corporation, the release of the update package is aimed at fairly advanced users while the owners of ordinary computers are not recommended to experiment with the service-pack.
Major changes in the third package of updates for Windows XP relate to the security. SP3 includes all previously released patches and updates, as well as a number of additional components to improve the reliability of the program platform. The service-pack includes the cryptographic module for protection of the core, a new mechanism of activation of the operating system and means of enhancing security in thenetwork.
The final version of the service-pack is going to be released in the first half of the coming year. It is expected that SP3 will be the last major Pack for Windows XP.
By the way, all willing can test the first service-pack for Windows Vista. This package of updates includes over 300 patches and updates, affecting a wide variety of the operating system`s components.
