The American company is permitted to sell spyware
21st December 2008
The company CyberSpy Software received court permission to sell the spying program of RemoteSpy, previously banned.
Early last month the U.S. Federal Trade Commission banned distribution of the application RemoteSpy, meant to fix key-strokes on a remote computer, monitor instant messaging and perform other spyware characteristic functions. According to FTC, the developer even provided customers with detailed instructions how to send the spyware via e-mail in the form of usual photos.
According to the court of Florida, the company CyberSpy is obliged to warn their customers that use of the software for surveillance is a violation of the law. Only under this term RemoteSpy can be sold freely.
According to FTC, the company CyberSpy Software owns 3-4% of the market of remote key-loggers. Since 2005, its founder and the only one employee has sold more than eleven thousand copies of RemoteSpy, having earned hundred thousands of dollars on it.
