Windows Vista SP1: list of changes
12th December 2007
Microsoft has released a detailed list of changes, made by the first improvements package for Windows Vista. It is available in two versions: the HTML-page and the Word file. The size of the document is impressive: about 17 pages. Release Notes tells about improvements that relate to support of the hardware, improving reliability and stability, synchronization with Windows Server 2008, etc.
The most interesting innovations are those made in the category "Improvements in performance". From it you can learn, that in Vista SP1 files from one folder to another are copied by 25% faster, and from one PC to another on a local network of up to 50% faster. In addition, it promises faster reading of large- sized graphic files.
As for security, Vista SP1 includes all updates issued since the release of the OS in November last year. We`d like to point out the tool Allow UAccess that will enable administrators to remove password protection for certain applications.
In addition, SP1 will provide updated versions of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and ReadyDrive, support of Secure Sockets Tunneling Protocol (SSTP).
The exact date of releasing Vista SP1 is still unknown. Microsoft promised to begin a public beta testing this week.
