I just downloaded the free 21-day trial of CloneDVD 2. It's GREAT! I found I needed to download DVD Shrink 3.2 first, so I could backup my "protected" movies....but DVD Shrink is FREE, and after having that saved to the hard drive, it's a breeze with CloneDVD 2. The only think I did was to delete the French and Spanish subtitles, etc. when using CloneDVD 2 (just uncheck those boxes). Then the whole movie with menu and extras fits on a 4.7GB DVD-R. Outstanding!! I haven't tried other DVD backup software yet, but I like what I've tried.
