First of all, you definitely need this program, if you, even infrequently, have to open certain types of files with different applications, such as text, graphic or music editors. And if you do it all the time, you absolutely can not manage without it. You need it, if you work with graphic images with such extensions as .gif, .jpg, etc. using several different graphic editors. When you simply click the file, you open it with the program it is associated with, Photoshop graphics editor for instance. However, what should you do, if you want to open the same file with another editor, viewer or even simply with your Internet Explorer? ExtMania allows to open any types of files with whatever applications - quickly and easily, create default associations between these types of files and applications, and flexibly manage such associations. On other occasions when you, more or less frequently, install new applications in your computer, these applications, as you may have noticed, often immediately associate certain filetypes with themselves. For instance, a newly installed archiving application may associate all and any files with .zip extension - with itself. Now you can no longer use good old WinZip by simply clicking on a .zip archive. I have dozens of applications installed on my computer, many of them are audio and graphic programs, each attempting to maintain control of common file types (mp3, wav, jpg, bmp, etc.). I find EXTMania to be an extremely easy and ideal program for taking control of file associations. The additional feature of being able to easily change command parameters and icon associations is a very nice touch!
