I've tried a few of these software programs, trying to narrow it down to one that's small in size, has a solid amount of editing tools, easy to use, and....bottom line - solid amount of editing tools for a great price. And even better, you get to download it here for free and try it out. Does wonders on ANY type of photo, JPEG, or GIF. I'm now finding myself getting artistic with simple images I took off the net. Very impressive software. Try it. Or don't. :)

To kakarot: Even a perfect tool is useless in stupid hands. You have to manually adjust compression parameters to find an optimal combination. It's very simple - drag the quality slider and watch how an image is changing. By the way, if you work with a file that was already compressed before, you may get a bigger file when re-compressing at high quality values. It is normal behavior, so do not blame the tool.
