Catch mobile phone thieves with GPS - the new Theft Aware software for Nokia smartphones is invisible to the thief
|
Linz, 3 November 2009 - Mobile phone theft on the street: who does not dream of tracking down brazen thieves along with the booty? A new software from ITAgents, for Nokia smartphones makes this possible. Theft Aware is unique because it is the only anti-theft protection for mobile phones which remains completely invisible to the thief while the victim is provided with access to his mobile phone per SMS. It thus offers maximum opportunities to catch the thief and get the stolen phone back. How current the subject of mobile phone theft is is shown by recent statistics from the UK, where a mobile phone stolen every 45 seconds. Each year this results in a total number of 800,000 stolen phones. (www.uknetguide.co.uk). With Theft Aware the owner can remotely control his mobile phone and perform a variety of actions that remain invisible to the thief. Personal information can be deleted, important messages can be forwarded and contacts can be secured. An invaluable advantage, particularly in the field of smartphones, which are often used as a mobile office for highly sensitive business documents and addresses. (www.theftaware.com). The most important feature allows the owner to use GPS coordinates to determine the current location of the mobile phone and have it sent via text message - and so the unsuspecting thief together with the phone is revealed to the police. Should this not be possible, you can at least thoroughly spoil the new owner's pleasure with a command sent by SMS, locking the device and triggering a piercing siren. Anyone who wants can even programme them to play a personalized sound file exposing the mobile phone as stolen or announcing a finder's fee - the creativity knows no bounds. Writing your own personal remote control commands is also possible. All these functions are also accessible if the phone's SIM card is exchanged. Reinhard Holzner, founder of ITAgents Interactive Software solutions and developer of TheftAware explains, If your phone is stolen and a thief changes the SIM card, the phone is normally lost as its identity changes at this moment. TheftAware enables you to still remain in contact with your phone after this event. In this case TheftAware sends the thief's phone number undetected to previously configured numbers. The victim can remotely control the mobile phone even with a new SIM card - and is even contactable from his stolen mobile phone, and can listen to conversations and surroundings unnoticed. In developing the new software, ITAgents has worked directly with Nokia. Nokia's Symbian OS operating system is the market leader in mobile phones and thus guarantees maximum coverage. The cooperation with Nokia enabled ITAgents to realize the invisibility feature of the anti-theft programme as a world-wide innovation. Theft Aware is available from the Nokia Store (www.ovi.com) or directly via www.theftaware.com. Here, you can download a free trial or a permanent license. 2009-10-15 |
