Tara Leigh Patrick (born April 20, 1972), professionally known as Carmen Electra, is an American glamour model, television personality, actress, and singer. After moving to California, she met singer Prince (a Minneapolis native), who persuaded her to change her name to Carmen Electra. In 1995, Electra started appearing in various television programs. Then, in May of 1996 she was featured in a nude pictorial in Playboy magazine, the first of several. This exposure led to higher profile television appearances, including Baywatch.Carmen Electra grew up near Cincinnati, Ohio, in the town of White Oak and got her first boost when a scout for Prince spotted her fronting for a rap group in Los Angeles. She released a self-titled album for Prince's Paisley Park label in 1992. Starting March 1997, she appears in cartoon form as the model for a character who's a singer and a vampire ( but a good vampire , says her publicist) in a comic book series called Embra.While Electra failed to land any big successes in the ensuing handful of years, 2004 saw her emerge again, gaining notice on both the large and small screens.
