Description for ChoiceMail One

ChoiceMail One

ChoiceMail is a spam-blocking system based on the premise that all incoming email is assumed to be spam until senders have obtained permission (called registering) to send you email. Until they do so, mail from unapproved senders will not appear in your email application. Unapproved senders are automatically offered the opportunity to register. If they do so you are notified so that you can choose to approve (or not) all future emails from that sender. You can also easily preapprove your existing contacts. The registration process requires manual intervention by the sender, thereby eliminating all automatic spamming systems. When our system tray icon flashes, you've got legitimate mail.

I have not had any of the problems of the other raters. It says that it is removing messages from the server, but when I check my Yahoo account, they're still there. Also, If you use it with Outlook, you can uncheck Leave messages on server. This is a wonderful program and I highly recommend it. I love that I can now view my Yahoo mail in Outlook and thread conversations. One drawback is I can't figure out yet how to send email yet or if that's even possible. All things considered though, this is great!

ChiceMail One works great, but it may not be for you. If you share a computer with other family members, it mixes them all together in Outlook. Configuring for web-mail accounts is not as easy as it sounds. And, you'd better keep a back-up copy of your registered version, 'cause if your compter crashes and you have to re-download, they'll charge you 19.95 to re-download the registered users program (rip-off!). That being said, I still wouldn't live without it. It removes ALL the spam. My e-mail has been reduced from over 100 a day to 3 or 4 a day, all of which I want. All you have to do is check every couple of days to see if anyone new wants to register to send you e-mail.

When a sender registers he is bombarded but useless and tedious advertisements to buy the product. The result is an offensive, unprofessional and needlessly wordy registration process. I contacted the manufacturer several times pointing out the hypocracy of his own "spam". However, he would not change it for the same reason others send spam...to make a buck.

Sceptical about antispam software I finally bumped into ChoiceMail. Quickly downloaded the free edition and since then I am 100% spam free!! Most afraid of not getting legitimate mails but...nothing to be afraid of. Legitimate senders who are willing to fill in a website form in 15 seconds will always get through to me. And that is exactly what I want. Senders who weren't prepared to fill in something were not that eager to contact me. So why bother with them? Another objection to ChoiceMail often heard is that automated messages won't get through: rubbish, pure rubbish. Whenever you are awaiting an automated message just look into the quarantaine box and approve the sender immediately upon receipt. When sending emails to someone unknown they automatically become approved. All you have to do in the beginning 3 weeks is to make sure you have a correct white address list by checking now and then the junk box. Later, you don't bother anymore about this junkbox. And hell, that's a lot better than constantly checking a quarantaine box like with most antispam software. Especially when you receive 100 or more emails a day! I tried several famous and good antispam-software (like spamfighter) but... rulebased antispam software will NOT win the spam-battle. I even got very legitimate email-addresses from real names and NO rule-based software can handle that!! So: for sure in about 2 years even Microsoft will go to permission-based antispam software like ChoiceMail: that is indeed the ONLY viable solution to spam. Users who had trouble with ChoiceMail earlier had not set the options correctly (as I had experienced as well). It takes some 30 minutes to figure everything out but then you have got the best (100%) antispam email software you can have. What baffles me the most is: why not many more people are using this jewel??

I've tried various spam killers, all which claim to be great. Most use a variety of filters, some better than others, but still require interaction on some level, and are not entirely accurate. I didn't want to see spam, nor did I want it diverted to a junk folder in my inbox, and I didn't want to miss important messages. Choicemail starts by assuming that everything is spam, and works from that premise by adding your contacts, individuals you specify, anyone you email out to, or an entire domain, to your whitelist. I'm currently using version 1.6. Anyone not on your whitelist gets a registration request. Now, I NEVER see ANY spam at all. It never makes it into my mailbox. I have it set to check two different addresses, and have no problems checking my mail from multiple computers either. I don't know what some of the other users were doing, but I think this program is the best thing to fight spam yet. The thing I can even complain about are the numerous registration requests that get sent out to the spammers, but that isn't really a problem that I can see.
