As they were defected from their village, that is why, they have a line over their headband. Each of them has a unique ring which shows the membership of their organization. They made a grouping of two teams and both teams walk with each others as they have to pass through the Naruto world. They get worry when another member is killed. Akatsuki actually was found by Madara Uchiha when he was barred from his village of Konohagakure. Ultimately Akatsuki got involvement in killing people and intelligence tasks. He later planned to control over the world and wanted first to capture the nine powerful tailed beings. Akatsuki explained to other 9 beings that if they became captured, Akatsuki will bind their great strength to start world wars at their freedom.
