Publisher description for Disk Extract
DiskExtract is a small app that will find a specific byte signature inside a given scope of files and Extract a specified number of bytes when a match is found. Why was it created? Inside Windows XP (presumably also on Windows 2000/2003/Vista/etc) comes the hability to create a bootable floppy disk. This floppy disk is filled with a bootable image contained inside a resource DLL file - we can extract the image from this DLL file but the adress where to start copying the file changes according to the language of the Operative System so this tool was created to effectively find the bootable image signature and extract it to a new file. Very handy as a method for getting a quick MSDOS bootable from nearly any Windows host.
