Editor's review Inno Setup
If you need an installer for your windows programs, then you can better use Inno Setup because you can generate windows installers with it. It is free to use and it beats all other commercial installers due to its powerful features. All the installations are made like scripts that are just like .INI files and these are in-fact ASCII text files with the extension of .iss. It?s easy-to-use. It automatically specifies the files and path for the files that to be installed and assign names to the files it selves. After writing the script, you have to compile it and it will gives you a script based setup program in its Output directory. It does work with all Microsoft Windows versions without the requirement of service packs as well as support for either of Itanium architecture, x64, disk spanning and single .exe creating is included. It lets you customize the setup process and you can uninstall it with ease. Bzip2, deflate, LAMA, 7-zip file compression installation are also integrated. It has also the ability to register OCX and DLL type libraries and it can also install fonts. The program is available in different languages and can be password protected. It has also support for different types of installs and uninstalls such as digitally signed, silent and Unicode, etc. Full source code for Borland Delphi is also available with it.
