Editor's review SpeedFan
The program that monitors fan speeds, voltages and temperatures in computers. It is a freeware program. Speed fan can access S.M.A.R.T information for hard disks that supports this feature and show temperatures of hard disk too. SCSI disks are also supported by Speed Fan. On hardware it can change FSB. At the lowest level, Speed Fan is actually hardware monitor software that can access digital temperature sensors. But the main feature of speed Fan is that it can change fan speeds according to the temperatures inside your system. Thus it reduces noise. It monitors temperature through hardware monitor chips which show off their temperature sensors connected to various places inside your PC and does its best to keep them at your preferred value according to your setup. Fan Speed can be changed according to the temperature of your Hard disk. Try to set the parameters by hand for minimum and maximum fan speed., Disable all the VARIATE fans check boxes and then listen to the voice. You can set value for minimum fan speed when you hear no noise from the fan. You can set 100 as maximum value beause you will hear lot of noise from it. You might reduce maximum fan speed to 90 or 95. Of course no one can say that maximum fan speed can be set on 60.Consider that the warming temperature is reached, the program automatically sets the fan speed to 100, whichever the fan speed you set. It has ability to handle any number of temperature readings as well as any number of PWMs, any number of South Bridges, and any number of voltage readings, etc.
